SMITE Open Beta Review

The developers of Global Agenda and Tribes: Ascend have yet another major offering to keep you glued to your screens, now providing an opportunity to play 'Mythological Godlike avatars' in their latest offering called Smite.

Placing yourself in the shoes of the 'Almighty' or a bunch of them 'All Mighty' if I might say, itself should give you an idea of what herculean tasks you would be asked to handle.

The feeling of 'omnipotence' brings an exceptional nature to this game. Limitless flow of power is just a part of the experience,but having an ultimate command over it and other such myriad abilities can seal the deal for you.

Spell slingers, knights in shining armor, snoopy hunters, shady assassins, brute warriors are the new God lineages here. Outgrowing heightened expectations is the least things you should expect as this mythological battlefield resides over the whole wide internet. Teleporting, Flying, Sprinting, and digging, you will have navigate and get around this game. Limited health and mana bars and ever recharging abilities give you extra bout of energy you need to keep going.

In the opening minutes of the match you start at the same levels as everyone else, but get stronger as you take on other opponents, minions or any other figures not allied to your side. Taking stronger figures or 'structures' head-on gives you enhanced growth during the gameplay, but gets you obliterated completely, finishing your team. It lets have loads of fun in teams or even dominate the battlefield if you can withstand the unleashed firepower by yourself.

Also by offering a third person perspective in the massive online battle arena it gets you in the middle of where all the real action is. Powering up decides the strength stature, but what matters is how you apply your experience to win. Well, 'domination' on the other hand, is pure skill which requires the tactical deployment of your hard earned rewards leading to a well earned victory.

The essence of the game comes from the way it allows you to be generic and control the 'believed to be complex' and difficult godly characters with just the WASD keys instead of mouse keys over a top-to-down view while you attack using those ever present mouse keys. It lets you completely control all aspects that include strength, speed and magic with just the most generic controls.

Conquering another territory tests every skill you can gain in the game from tactics to innovative practices. It also helps you focus on withstanding the firepower. Modeled as per the traditional 'Massively Online Battle Arena' standards it pins up players against each other in teams to conquer over each other.

You can also have a random selection in a casual game mode and you get to decide to be the best among the rest in a giant single lane battlefield. Teaming up or going solo against each other is up to you, just like the picking of characters in a single lane quick match. Every day brings a new surprise to the gamer as you face a new challenge to win over under the thematic matches. If you are a newbie you can of-course practice all of the modes before the first face-off against a real player.

No matter which 'pantheon' you love the most, a huge roster of characters is offered to be played with, some are free to start with some are to be won. Since every character has their own skill set and abilities, it takes some time to master them but along its way it lets you have loads of fun. Few characters allow you to use their abilities in combinations to strengthen them. Challenge players veiling control of the mighty godlike avatars and deities such as Zeus, Poseidon from Greek mythology, Ra, Anubis from the Egyptian tales, Thor, Alfather Odin from the Norse legacy including the latest additions being Scylla Horror of the Deep, Ullr The Glorious One and many more exist!! 

Teaming up does bring up a lot of imaginative thought process into work as to which godly ability suits you the best or better put, which tactic suits you the best - whether it would be damage dealing, tanking, crowd control, or supporting your team in overall aspects. The more inventive the player can become the more interesting the gameplay is as it allows you complete control over the character in the defined map area.

The UI both in gameplay and menu control is almost the same. As the game is in it's open beta stage we can speculate changes in the future. By offering various shortcuts to access the store features, tasks are simplified  and granting access to inter communication between gameplay with dedicated voice packs provides an awesome feeling. The game can be purchased or unlocked by experiencing it, if you excel ahead at faster pace the faster and more you are rewarded. 

The game provides a stutter free gameplay even at low end machines and on motherboard graphics. This lets every breed of player experience the game and gives you an opportunity for the developer in you to access a greater pool of players.

The game is set to launch on 25/March/2014.

The game is still in an open beta stage and is a free to play modelled game. It is a great addition to the MOBA community and is gaining more and more attraction from all aspects. It is standing up to the marks of the major players in the MOBA genre. It is a great MOBA to grasp your imagination.

OpenGL Games

OpenGL is technology that enables the user to create graphics by literally joining dot by dot (technically pixel by pixel). The Open GL graphics libraries enable the user to use the language of their own preference such as C,C++,Java,Python and so on to create the graphics and animate their still pictures.

So which are the games that are built using the OpenGL libraries.
There are many old as well as new games that have been built upon the OpenGL graphics libraries.They are as well as heavy duty FPS games as well as the day to day addictive mobile games.

Some of them are as enlisted below.

Fans of these games may be many but do you know that these were built using the OpenGL libraries.

1) AngryBirds

Who does not know the AngryBirds game?
Angry Birds is a touch based Android and IOS (mainly touch screen) based game which provides many mind boggling, puzzling levels to be completed by the user and also in various flavors.

The Android version is made with the OpenGL's extension to smartphones category, i.e the OpenGL ES(Open Gl for Embedded Systems). It is often confused with the canvas concept of HTML5 as it is a mobile application and HTML5 is also a very well known technology in the field of mobile app development.

Angry Birds first came to the iOS operating system and dominated the Apple app store making itself the most downloaded gaming application in it's category.

Then moving on with different technologies and also increasing it's presence across platforms it made itself visible to the other major mobile OSs such as the Android OS and the Windows Mobile OS from Microsoft.

It also has it's similar version for PC market as well, it is so well built using the OpenGL in the beginning,it is easy to dominate all the other markets with an ease as it already has proven it's worth in a market which has about 10,000 daily application uploads.

The fans of real-time strategy games, this game is a relic for them. This is a game which was launched in the late 90s. It did not require a lot of computer resources but attracted a lot many gamers, with it's astounding real-time graphics for a strategy game. It had magic and warfare combined all together under under a single banner.It rolled out it's series in the coming after years giving the player more what they yielded for with the expansion packs which were also full fledged gaming scenarios.

These were not the end of just the end of features it offered. It also made a mark upon the industry by proving a large community of the RTS gamers the MMO version of it under the Blizzard Network platform.

The World of Warcraft though an OpenGL project it defaults itself to D3D in Windows which is a part of Direct X package.

The famous game series from a game originally based on the movie series named Tomb Raider is a very well known benchmark what the OpenGl has achieved. The Tomb Raider gaming series has been rated very highly by the various gaming networks across the gaming industry.

It has portray very enticing moments that one could feel only for a few number of moments in the movies. Here the player can live the game as long as they want.

Tomb Raider has it's series both in Direct X as well as Open GL flavors having it's own feature set to it. It does not mean that Direct X version is more enjoyable than the OpenGL or vice versa. It is the players' own perspective to select the graphics technology.

The Commandos has been a benchmark for lovers of stealth and real time tactics oriented gaming series. It is the pinnacle at which gaming could reach for it's amazing gameplay experience and also really great difficulty level which made it much more challenging for the player.

The Green Beret from these bestseller of the 90s and 2000 series has been one of the main characters of the game which has it's appearances in all the four releases from 1998 to 2006.Although many characters come and go, but the gameplay experience gives really great feel.

Rather than shifting to other technologies Unreal Tournament has continued using the OpenGL as it's base technology to create it's most famous game series.

The Unreal Tournament contains a multi-player mode which enables user to have more than 6 players at once in a gameplay either on the same team (for co-operative gameplay experience) or separate to have individual gaming experience.

Games-Fun for all

Game is an activity generally dealt with at leisure times and for amusement. We have been carrying out this activity from it's inception, since our childhood and the childhood of the information era.

Games were more prominently played in the real world between people in real time without any artificial intelligence, but after the information age we started to play with the artificial intelligent systems. Let us have a look how the games have modified themselves or they have not.

Games were "fun for all" when they were played without artificial intelligence.

The digital information cannot remain still, it requires a steady flow as the water takes away the yatch on a wonderful and pleasant journey though intelligently handed mast by a sailor navigating it's way to it's destination. It requires both flow and navigation, i.e. interface and content.

Earlier the television and the hardware encapsulated the null void , now it is slowly getting encapsulated by the smart concept, which in turn will become the crust.So every digital existence out there wants to be on the surface instead of connecting to the inner most core. We observe many developers of games have moved to the inter-connectivity between many version, i.e console, handheld, PC, web, social version, trading cards and so on.

The gaming industry from the Sports -> Arcade gaming-> console gaming -> Computer(PC) gaming-> Mobile Gaming -> Tablet Gaming -> Social gaming has traveled through a marvelous journey but still remains fun for all.

But now due to the information technology as a feature add-on to the real world gaming we can modify and add new rules to the continuity of the gameplay and take the experience to greater heights. It encourages the player and developer to cross the lines of expectations for each other as a co-operative process and encourage the development of the game and the game-play experience, which widens the scope for the enhancement of it's development as a product and may attract newer market of players.

The social gaming is a feature that the mainstream games are also utilizing nowadays, as it involves the player which makes him/her experience it to the intended purpose that feature was made in the game.
For ex: If some article or process requires sunlight to work in the game-world, that feature is active only during day time according to the player's GPS location on the globe, but on the other hand is unavailable for a period of time for the opposite side of the globe.It literally works in real-time. But what about the other player, the other player awaits for that feature by keeping oneself involved in the gameplay, to get that task done, or shares the product of the task if can be done with other player if the game provides such facility as a part of the experience.

As seen earlier the games were experienced as part of collaborative work process which was then converted to single or dual player fields but has again moved towards the collaborative or multiplayer gaming but just not on a field located in a city, but instead on a vast field located on the internet.

Games went through a chain of events throughout their lifetime, but still remain "fun for all".
